A celebration presented digitally

A personal invitation designed to be opened, explored and remembered.

01

Project overview

The objective was to transform a wedding invitation into an interactive digital experience that guests could access from their phones.

The website brings the important wedding information together in one place, including the couple's names, event details, location, schedule, gallery and RSVP.

The visual direction uses maroon, cream and beige to create an elegant but contemporary atmosphere.

Because most guests are expected to access the invitation through a mobile device, the design prioritises vertical viewing, readable information and touch-friendly interaction.

02

The challenge

The original visual concept needed to remain elegant while adapting correctly to different screen sizes.

01

Responsive presentation

Decorative elements and banners could be cropped or repositioned incorrectly when viewed on devices with different screen dimensions.

02

Mobile-first experience

The invitation needed comfortable text sizes, clear spacing and controls that guests could easily use on a phone.

03

Design consistency

The website needed to preserve the original colour palette, typography and emotional quality of the wedding concept.

03

The solution

I translated the visual design into a responsive HTML, CSS and JavaScript website.

Instead of relying on one fixed canvas size, the website uses responsive sections that adjust their layout, spacing and typography according to the available screen width.

The experience begins with an envelope-style opening screen. Guests select “Click to Open” before entering the main invitation.

This creates a small sense of anticipation while still keeping the website practical and easy to navigate.

Outcome and reflection

The project helped me understand how visual design decisions need to adapt when they become part of a responsive website.

A layout that looks balanced at one screen size may become cropped, crowded or difficult to read on another device.

Rebuilding the invitation with code gave me greater control over the layout and allowed the experience to respond more naturally to different devices.
